JXN Water Health, Safety, and Environment Policy

At JXN Water, being safe and healthy is what we do! Our goal is to prevent and avoid all injuries and potential health risks to our employees, guests, and business partners, and the surrounding community.

We believe in a standard of excellence towards health, safety, and the environment (HSE) and require everyone involved in operating and maintaining our water and wastewater assets to comply with and sustain all HSE requirements, policies, and continual improvements.

JXN Water HSE Commitments and Expectations

We expect you to know and promote a culture that supports a safe and healthy workplace everywhere and for everyone.

Employees and contractors must participate in safety and health program activities:

  • Immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices, and accidents to supervisors or a safety committee representative;
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment;
  • Participating in and supporting safety committee activities.

Other JXN Water HSE strategies include:

  • Making sure everyone knows the health and safety guidelines and requirements
  • Executing “Stop-Work” authority if you become aware of an unsafe act or condition that could place anyone in immediate harm or harm’s way. There will be no fault or blame for anyone who follows this process in “good faith”, even if the investigation finds the work stoppage unnecessary.
  • Holding all teams accountable for complying with all HSE procedures defined in any contract, subcontract, plan or any federal, state, or local HSE laws and regulations
  • Implementing necessary response procedures, including evacuations, in response to any significant incident or emergency
  • Maintaining the effectiveness of any JXN Water health and safety policy by performing regular inspections of our working conditions, identifying lessons learned from incidents, and empowering our employees for feedback

    Contractor and Subcontractor HSE Requirements

    JXN Water will require a prequalification that will include the following compliance requirements:

    • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) citations—The past 3 years of OSHA history must be verified.
    • OSHA logs—The last 3 years of OSHA Form 300A Summaries and OSHA Forms 300 must be provided.
    • Competent person designation—Each subcontractor must designate a competent person for each project element (i.e., excavation, fall protection, electrical, scaffolding, etc.) who will always remain on site with the subcontractor personnel when any work is in progress.
    • Baseline training requirements—Many controlling contractors have either joined or established baseline training requirements that are in line with Construction Career Collaborative (C3)., such as the following:
      • Site supervision: OSHA 30-Hour Construction
      • Field‑level personnel (workers): OSHA 10 Hour Construction
      • Work task-specific training: For example, fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, electrical, equipment operation, and confined space entry
    • Site-specific safety plan—Each subcontractor must develop a site-specific safety plan for each project to include the following information:
      • Chemical inventory and safety data sheets
      • Detailed description of the scope of work, associated hazards, and the general health, safety and environmental requirements for the work at hand
      • Emergency response procedures and designated facilities
      • Job safety analyses for definable features of work
      • Personal protective equipment
      • Personnel training and competency records
      • Project management contacts
      • Safety contact(s)
      • Tool and equipment inventories
